With 60 channels of I/O capability, RME’s acclaimed DURec USB record capability, Word Clock, and the ability to use RME’s integrated hardware mixer TotalMix FX, the Fireface UFX II delivers a great feature set in a compact 1RU form factor. Mathias von Heydekampf, managing director at Synthax, shares his perspective on the new Fireface UFX II, “The new RME Fireface UFX II delivers the overwhelming majority of the features found on RME’s flagship Fireface UFX+, but does so at a price point that enables more audio professionals than ever to take advantage of its state-of-the-art features and capabilities. The Fireface UFX II offers second generation hardware with improved USB functionality and compatibility-providing greater reliability, even with slower or multi-partitioned USB thumb drives. Further, new phones outputs (2 Ohms) with +19 dBu maximum output level provide ample output power and volume on any headphones-high or low impedance. RME’s Fireface UFX II incorporates AD/DA converters, optimized analog I/O circuits, as well as improved SNR and THD values and a new PAD-free mic circuit design with +18 dBu maximum input level and 75 dB gain range. Further, with support for USB 2 connectivity, the new Fireface UFX II can integrate with RME’s optional ARC USB remote controller. Analog, ADAT, AES, SPDIF, and USB 2 are all standard on the Fireface UFX II with 12 analog, 16 ADAT, and 2 AES connections for 30 channels input and 30 channels output. The Fireface UFX II offers flexibility that enables the interface to fit into a myriad of production environments. With capacity for 60 audio channels (30 input and 30 output), support for sampling frequencies upward of 192 kHz, and the flexibility provided by USB connectivity, the new Fireface UFX II is a solution to a wide range of recording, mixing, and monitoring applications.
RME FIREFACE UFX ADAT DRIVER
With the inclusion of DURec (Direct USB Recording), and RME’s low latency hardware and driver designs, the Fireface UFX II delivers a feature set that will appeal to users in both high end home studios and commercial audio production facilities.

RME FIREFACE UFX ADAT PRO
For everyone interested I have RME Fireface UFX operating as master usb interface, ADI 2 pro operating as DAC, and Burl B2 + ADI 2 Pro + Audient ASP880 all operating as ADC. So right now everything is working perfectly. That menu is tricky to operate sometimes! The problem seems to have been my inability to navigate to the optical output setup on ADI 2 Pro. I suggest to use ADAT2 as protocol, because then you have two advantages: you can check ADAT ports and TOSLINK cables by performing a loop test on each of the devices. If you use the UFX as clock master, then you also need to provide a TOSLINK cable from UFX to ADI-2 Pro.īTW. Regarding clock: who is clock master in this setup ? RME FIREFACE UFX ADAT MANUAL
ADI-2 Pro (latest firmware): "Setup->Options->SPDIF/Remap Keys -> Optical Out -> ADAT"ĪDI-2 Pro manual needs a correction here, it changed with more recent firmwareĢ. I suggest to use ADAT as protocol, because then you have two advantages:Ī) you can configure the ADI-2 Pro's output for ADAT protocol and connect it to UFX to either ADAT1 or ADAT2 in,ī) if you configure ADAT2 port on UFX to use ADAT protocol for in and out, then ADAT2 port is independend from AES, see block diagram.Ĭonfigure ADI-2 Pro and UFX to use ADAT protocol:ġ. The protocol (ADAT or SPDIF) needs to match between the two devices !! ADAT1 only supports ADAT (not SPDIF) protocol. ADAT2 ports can be configured for ADAT or SPDIF, but Gregos, did I understand correctly, that this is your cabling ?ĪDI-2 Pro - ADAT OUT-> ADAT? IN - Fireface UFX
